Workshops are offered by guest speakers following the Guild Programs unless otherwise noted. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn new techniques and improve quilting skills with some of the top quilters in the world at a minimal fee.

Program Speaker: Susan Braverman, Wild Poppy Quilts
Susan will present a trunk show followed by a DIY tutorial on how to get the best pictures of your quilt. She is coming from San Antonio and does Modern quilting and designs patterns.
'Art has been a lifelong passion, expressed primarily through drawing, painting, and textiles. However, as a military spouse, registered nurse, and mother of three, creative pursuits often took a back seat. Despite the demands of a full-time career and family life, my artistic spirit never faded. In 2019, I made a pivotal decision to leave a high-pressure job that demanded 24/7 accountability and fully immerse myself in textile art. My current work focuses on contemporary, graphic compositions brought to life with solid fabric sourced commercially or hand dyed. Through the interplay of geometric shapes, I aim to create abstract art to evoke curiosity and engage the viewer. This exploration of form and color allows me to express a deeper sense of balance and harmony while pushing the boundaries of traditional patchwork design and piecing.'

Program Speaker: Regina Eardley, a Regional Account Executive for Riley Blake Design Fabrics
Workshop - 1 pm Fee: $45 pp
Regina will present a workshop on 'non scrappy' version of appliqué and will include a faux-turned option in addition to raw edge appliqué. This will be a fun way to embellish quilts, pillows, wall hangings, etc. Yes, it will all be machine appliqué, but you can apply some of the same steps if you prefer to do your appliqué by hand as well.

You will provide 2 fat quarters, and these ladies will source (for nominal fee) stabilizer, zipper and handle material. They will teach us how to make a very simple and easy, super cute mini duffle. With some homework, you will expect to finish this bag in the workshop.

Program Speaker: Minay Sirois 'Bordering: on the Edge of Madness'
This program takes a look at the various types of borders that can be used on quilts from the very simple to complex pieced, appliquéd or multiple borders. Through an extensive show and tell of quilts, the idea of which type of border best suits which type of quilt is illustrated.
Minay will lead a workshop for us to make a Welsh Style Quilt in which a square center block will be put on point and pieced on the sides. More details later, this topic may change, and we will provide further details later.
